Mirrors Darkly Author Notes - Ch. 28-30

In Chapters 28-30 we start moving into the next subplot of the novel:  where the hell did Darrin Allis get all that money?  As in real life, the FBI is a little behind in pulling together this next bit of information (they're still finishing an unproductive line of questioning on Tanzania), but they will get there.  I had the privilege to work on a project in which the FBI was pulling together a case relating to financial crimes.  These folks are really good at what they do.  But, as Americans, we have a right to privacy when it comes to our financial records and the FBI needs probable cause to search them.  Nobody in law enforcement wants a case bounced due to sloppy investigative work, including failing to get necessary warrants. 

We also see Rod Warner trying to protect Darrin from further interactions with Johnny Duran.  We'll see soon how successful Rod was with that effort!
